Glycolic acid is a fruit acid and is a natural constituent of sugar cane. it is the smallest molecule of the AHA family and therefore penetrates across the cell membrane working at a deeper level than your normal over the counter skin creams. It exfoliates the top layer of dead skin cells (Stratum Corneum) and used in a daily regimen of skin care it is found to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and give the skin a smoother, softer appearannce.
A glycolic home care skin treatment plan can be used on its own or in conjunction with a course of glycolic peels. The peels are of a much higher concentration than the home care products and a course of 4-8 peels is recommended depending on your skin condition. The peels can be spaced weekly.
