Brown blemishes and birthmarks can also be treated by laser. The laser works by emitting a wavelength of light which is specific to the pigment carrying cells (melanosomes) which it destroys without affecting adjacent cells and blood vessels.

A number of treatments may be required depending on the size of the actual area being treated.
